A Platform for Research and Dialogue

The EUFIN – Conference of AinE is a leading platform for academics to share research and engage in contemporary accounting and policy debates.

The conference combines:
Parallel sessions for presenting and discussing academic papers
Plenary sessions bringing together academics, standard setters, regulators, practitioners, and stakeholders

Topics of interest align with AinE’s aims and scope, and include, but are not limited to: financial and sustainability reporting, standard setting and enforcement; governance and auditing; accountability; and tax in Europe or for Europe from a global perspective.

We look forward to welcoming participants who share our commitment to advancing accounting research and practice across Europe and beyond.

Accounting in Europe, it’s us!

Origins and Development

The EUFIN workshops were launched in 2005 by a group of accounting scholars within the AinE network.

Their vision:
1. Connect research with real-world challenges
2. Support early-career scholars with constructive feedback

The group was led by Axel Haller and Peter Walton, alongside Ann Jorissen, Brigitte Eierle, David Cairns, Eva Eberhartinger, Lisa Evans, and Christopher Nobes.

The EUFIN network owes much to their dedication and commitment to promoting high-quality, impactful research!

A New Chapter

In 2023, the EUFIN workshop was revamped to EUFIN – Conference of AinE.

As Andrei Filip, then Editor of AinE, remarked, “after 20 years of dating, it was time for a marriage”.

This new chapter introduced new governance guidelines (available here), formalized the relationship with the European Accounting Association and its Committees, and defined the overall conference structure.

The Conference now offers a dedicated platform for EAA Committees working in areas linked to the journal’s scope to share their work and discuss issues aligned with their strategic priorities.

The current format also strengthens the long-standing commitment to early-career scholars and PhD students through a Paper Development Workshop, designed to provide detailed feedback on promising research and to support its potential publication in the Journal.

In addition, conference participants may now opt for a fast-track publication pathway, an initiative that expedites the review process by combining the insight of conference attendees and journal reviewers.

Our Values

While both the Journal and the Conference continue to evolve, they remain grounded in a shared commitment to:

  • Collaboration
  • Rigorous research
  • Impactful contributions to practice and policy
